Bitter Sugar
In the midst of sweet sugarcane growing rigid and tall, the work ‘Bitter Sugar’ unveils the fragile lives of sugarcane farmers in the villages of Sarlahi district in the southern belt of Nepal.
Bitter sugar explores their relationship with their land, the burden of the debt, and the slowness of justice. Through the work, one sees that despite the callous disregard towards the hardships of the farmers and their families, they stand in resilience getting by each day working and being in togetherness.
